Today was a day of ups and downs but I think ultimately a good day. Cyndie had a lot of time with mom. Well actually, Cyndie arrived on Saturday and has been with mom the entire time with the exception of one lunch out and our quick errand yesterday. I’d say they are definitely getting in some quality time. They had a couple of very long talks today and it sounds like mom is feeling a little bit more… I don’t know – I wouldn’t go so far as to say hopeful or optimistic, but she’s going to keep trying. I think maybe she is starting to see the possibilities that still exist for her so long as she keeps working at getting better.
Saturday night was good sleep while last night was none. I am hoping for both mom and Cyndie’s sakes that sleep happens tonight. Although she was tired, she did work very hard with her therapist today. Only one session, but tomorrow may be a little busier. OT will be starting the day with her around 9:00. No idea about the others but they should be coming by to see her. She hasn’t had an assessment with the speech therapist yet and I’m looking forward to mom getting back on track with that.
Cyndie and I did take a tour of the “Independent Living” apartments. They are quite nice. While checking out one of the restaurants, we met one of the residents who told us that he feels like he’s living on a cruise ship. There are so many amenities right there on campus and so much to do. He loves it and said that we NEED to convince mom that she will too. Everyone that we encountered seemed so happy to be there (whether living there or just working). This is what I want for my mom. For her to live in a nice place where she is safe, can make friends, and have lots of things to do. Chad and I have another tour scheduled in a couple of days. I can’t wait to see what he thinks.
I’ll be back to check on mom in the morning. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to post about what a great night’s sleep she had!
