One Week To Go! – Friday, August 11, 2017

She’s getting close to coming home!

Mom has been doing great. She’s working really hard at therapy and is anxious to get home. We have lots of things to do to get it ready and just right for her. New hardwoods have been put in her room so she won’t have any issues using her wheelchair. Chad and I picked out the tile for her bathroom and demo starts tomorrow! We still need to pick out the countertop, sink, and faucet, but I think Chad already has some ideas. I’m really hoping that the bathroom job doesn’t take as long as the contractor said it will, but we’ll adjust however we need to.

Mom has the next couple of days off from therapy. She’s been pushing herself so hard and she really needs these days to rest up. Back at it on Monday! We’ll be meeting with one of her at-home caregivers on Wednesday. She’ll be coming in Wednesday morning to get to know mom and also watch her in therapy. The caregiver will be doing some exercises at home with mom so having her get some instruction from the therapists will be great.

I know that some of the ladies there are going to miss mom. We had a really nice visit with her friend, T, before bed. I think a few of them would like mom to visit once in awhile. Mom said she’d like to, but after she’s better. I think sometimes it is a little depressing seeing some of the people that are there long-term and have made this their home. I am hoping that once she’s with us for a little while she will want to go back and spend a little time with them. I know that I’ll miss them.

Chad and Sam are headed up to spend time with her this evening. I am off to catch up with some old classmates. It’s our 30 year reunion!! It’ll be nice to see some of them. I really can’t believe it’s been that long. I guess we are all getting older, no matter how much we try to deny it.
