The Results Are In!! – Monday, September 18, 2017

After a great birthday weekend (I’m pretty sure mom will say it was great – both of her girls were here), we had a leisurely morning since the only thing on the agenda today was her follow up with the cardiologist.

AWESOME news! Mom’s heart function is completely normal! No more arrhythmia! That cardioversion she had back when she was in INOVA worked! She’ll need to have EKGs done every 3-4 months to make sure things are still normal and she’ll have the full echocardiogram done next year. She does still have a couple of leaky valves – one minor, one moderate (but NOT major). The doctor said that it’s not really anything to be concerned about at this moment. We can monitor the status with the echo. If things progress to the point of requiring surgery it will likely take years. It’s not an issue that will need to be resolved immediately.

This doctor also thinks that sleep apnea may have been what contributed to this mess. So mom has a sleep study scheduled for early October. Other than that, just a small adjustment to her meds (for the better) and the follow up appointments. All in all a very good day!

  1. Happy birthday my dear friend!!!!!!!!!!
I am thrilled to hear you are doing so well. I am not.
I am working hard to get up to speed but it is slow. I still do not drive further than the doctor.
Phooey. I promise, I will come see you as soon as I can drive again.
I still go to water aerobics but am limited in what I can do. I still cannot lift my arms up further than my shoulders. The pain is sharp. I have refused any more chemo therapy.
I will keep in touch better.
    All my love, Debbie
