Mom’s CPAP machine was delivered yesterday. It’s a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I imagine that it’s going to take several days for her to get used to it, but the guy who came to get her set up said that it is literally life changing.
The machine is actually very simple to use. However, I must have still managed to do something wrong because she said the mask fell off during the night. I’m not really sure how, since the thing is strapped to her face but I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt for now. She’s supposed to wear it for a minimum of 4 hours per night so that Medicare will pick up the tab. Last night she wore it for 1.3 hours (the machine keeps track and knows when air is freely blowing and not being worn). So night #1 was a big fail. Hopefully we’ll get it figured out for tonight. I hope that by this time next week she’s sleeping better at night and is feeling a lot more energetic!
