Mom is part of the botox club now! Don’t worry – her face is just as beautiful as its ever been. She didn’t get the injections to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. NOPE. She got about a half a dozen injections into her left arm! I know it was a bit painful since it had to go directly into the muscle but she was a champ!
We won’t know how effective these shots are for a little while. Hopefully in about a week or so her fingers will start to loosen up and she’ll lose some of that “tone” that she’s developed as a result of her stroke. Hopefully within a month she’ll have the full effect from what was given to her today. If she tolerates it well with no adverse reactions, the doctor will likely bump up the dosage a little and possibly hit some other areas on our next visit. We should be going back roughly every 3 months. There is one area that the doctor wanted to target for her fingers but it involves shots in her palm. We all thought it best that we didn’t go that far during this first visit. I didn’t want mom to get scared off!
Tomorrow is another PT session with another new therapist. Hopefully she’ll like the one tomorrow as much as she did the one on Monday.
