Yesterday was a whirlwind. Exciting but then pretty painful (for me). I didn’t end up doing an update once we got to the new place because honestly, I was having to do a lot of “damage control”.
Mom had her therapies yesterday (all 3) since she wasn’t coming over to Ashby until later in the afternoon. We made it here around 5PM and everyone was so welcoming and kind. They really make an effort to make their residents feel comfortable.
I got her settled and went home for the night… or so I thought. I was home for about an hour and got a call from the nurse that mom was acting up and I needed to come. To keep this brief (I’ll spare you all of the details), mom was restless all night. Well, not just “restless”. I gave her a scolding when I got here and then had to check on her every time I heard her stir. I wasn’t sure what she was up to.
Morning FINALLY came and she had an assessment with the Occupational Therapist. The OT is very sweet and took good care of mom getting her ready for the day and taking a look at what she’s able to do. Mom will have her PT assessment tomorrow and will hopefully see speech on Monday. Cyndie came into town this morning (THANK GOODNESS!). We took mom around the building to show her how nice it was. I am hoping that seeing what this place has to offer and meeting some of the other residents will help her mood and outlook on things (life in general).
Cyndie is planning on spending the night tonight so we will see how it goes. I am hoping better than my night with her went. I found out that she has another sleeping aid to be given “as needed”. She wasn’t given that last night. I think that is going to be a game changer. Cyndie can be the judge of that.
***UPDATE: Mom’s address info has been updated in the “What Can I Do?” page.
