Follow Up with the Heart Guy – Tuesday, September 5, 2017

Quick little update here…

I took mom for her first appointment with her new cardiologist. Originally I had considered having her be seen by the guy that treated her in the hospital but he’s just too far away. I like that this practice is just a few miles away (meaning within a 30 minute drive). She had a resting EKG done and a brief assessment. Everything appears to be normal. Even her blood pressure is good! The cardiologist did hear a slight murmur. I’m actually glad that he pointed that out. The exam was brief and sometimes I feel like things can get missed. However since he noted that, I felt pretty good that his quickness didn’t necessarily mean he wasn’t thorough.

We set an appointment for an echocardiogram so he can get a better picture of what’s going on with her heart. Her heart rate was good today. Around 70. Which means that the cardioversion that she had done in April hasn’t been “undone” and she is still maintaining a normal rhythm. We talked about her leaky valve and he didn’t seem very concerned about it. We’ll know more after her echo, which will be next Friday.
