Rest Did Her Well! – Monday, July 10, 2017

Saturday was the start of another quiet weekend. I know I’ve mentioned a million times that weekends can seem so long for mom since she doesn’t have therapy. I have been trying to convince her that the downtime is actually good for her because she needs to give herself time to rest. I was able to introduce her to my good friend, A, who asked if she could come visit mom again sometime. They talked about shows that they both like – I think mom may have found someone to binge watch “I Love Lucy” episodes with! I actually didn’t make it in to see mom yesterday. I was so exhausted that I ended up sleeping for much of the day. Mom wasn’t without company though. My cousin came in to visit, as did her friend H. I think she had a nice weekend of rest.

When I arrived this morning, she was just getting started with her PT/OT session. As promised, the focus today was on her standing and walking. Since they had a third person there, I was able to take a quick video so you can finally see her in action:

Baby Steps!

She took a little break after a few more steps but after a brief rest, got up and continued walking for a total of 28 FEET!! She’s really determined and is doing great. I am getting ready to take her to the dining room for lunch. Hopefully after she will rest for a bit so she’ll have strength to continue working hard tomorrow.
