Mom has been working SO hard in her therapies. She’s been working on transfers and pivoting and I think for the most part she’s down to needing just one person now. That is great news! She’s also started taking a few steps. Here’s proof!
We had a pretty heated “discussion” yesterday regarding what she is allowed to try and to herself and what she’s not (nothing and everything). She’s starting to feel stronger which is both a blessing and a curse. She wants to regain her independence, but I’m terrified that she’s going to try things on her own. She’s definitely not ready for that and the consequences could be disastrous. Both Cyndie and I have BEGGED her to be 100% compliant. At least until October 15. Why that date specifically? Cyndie is GETTING MARRIED!! We want mom to be able to attend and fully participate. After her wedding, mom can do whatever she wants. Frankly, I am tired of fighting with her about it. But until then, I want her to stay safe so she can watch her baby daughter marry the man of her dreams. So in the meantime, for those of you who see her regularly (or even at all), PLEASE reiterate how important it is for her to ask for help. This is much too important.
So this is really a good news post. Mom’s making great progress – it’s awesome to see her taking those few steps. I remember those days last year at Maple Grove. I believe that she’ll get it back. And Cyndie’s getting hitched!! WOO HOO!! Wade is a great guy and we can’t wait to officially make him a part of the family.
